Ronan is a seasoned healthcare consultant and leader with over 20 years of experience in transforming healthcare organizations and systems in Canada and the UK. Ronan's core competencies include strategic analysis, process improvement, and digital and analytics. He has a proven track record of delivering large-scale and complex projects that improve quality of care, operational efficiency, and bottom-line performance. Ronan has served as a contracted Assistant Deputy Minister and Independent Alberta Surgical Recovery Lead with Alberta Health, Government of Alberta. Under Ronan’s leadership, transformational and tactical improvement projects were rapidly accelerated and implemented to support surgical recovery returning to pre-COVID-19 pandemic volumes.
In Manitoba, Ronan was the Chief Operating Officer of Health Sciences Centre (HSC) Winnipeg, one of the largest tertiary and provincial hospitals in Canada and was also actively supporting the ongoing transformation of healthcare in Manitoba as member of the Shared Health senior executive team.
Ronan has successfully led complex change and transformation programs in multiple jurisdictions including the United Kingdom (UK), the Middle East and Canada in the areas of cost/performance optimization at both provider and health economy levels, strategic planning and commissioning, board assurance and risk management framework, change management, finance organizational transformation, advanced data analytics, funding and payment mechanisms reform, reconfiguration and redesign of care services across healthcare systems.
Ronan's previously led KPMG's Canadian National Healthcare Practice on Cost Improvement and Transformation supporting clients across Canada. Prior to moving to KPMG, Ronan formed part of a senior leadership team which established EY Canada’s National Healthcare Practice and led nationally on cost optimization. During this time, Ronan resided in BC and has worked extensively with health organizations in the province. Ronan has served on numerous boards of not-for-profit organizations, including, when based in the UK, of the Federation of Irish Societies, the official representative body of the Irish community in Britain.
Ronan is a graduate of the Health Services Management Centre at the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, with a MSc (Distinction) in Health Care Policy and Management and a previous recipient of an NHS Innovations Award for leading the development of a UK national award-winning supported housing scheme.
